language lessons

Learning the Hebrew language is necessary for the integration of the asylum seekers in the community and city where they live. Most of the asylum seekers, who have been in Israel for over a decade, speak Hebrew at a good level, some even at a very good level. However, there are still asylum seekers who have difficulty communicating with employers or officials (municipality, welfare), which makes it difficult for them to exercise their rights. For parents of children, acquiring a language also helps in the relationship with their children (most of them were born in Israel and speak Hebrew from a young age) as well as in communication with the schools and the various educational frameworks.

At the center, lessons are taught in Hebrew and English for adults, adapted to the student’s level and allowing the student to improve at his own pace. The classes are held by volunteers and delivered in a fun and enriching way.

The classes are going to start in November – days and times will be announced later

We have come to understand that the classes taught at the center do not provide a sufficient response to women in the community, therefore there are volunteers who teach women individually in their homes.
